There was a moment that felt like a turning poin<\/strong>t for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A scene where I put into words what I had been carrying, sorted through it, and handed it to someone to receive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had faced it carefully, in my own way. With a little nervousness, I offered it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when I heard the words, “You worked hard on this” \u2014 I felt a quiet relief. But only for a moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before I knew it, the conversation had begun to drift, little by little, in another direction. Toward someone else’s difficulty. Toward another situation entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

None of it was wrong. In fact, the words were full of kindness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And yet, somewhere in my heart, a small unease remained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where am I, right now?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That was the feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I couldn’t find the words in that moment, so I simply let it pass in silence. But later, something quietly spilled over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think I was sad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nothing had been denied. Nothing had hurt me. And yet \u2014 “I just wanted you to stay a little longer, here with me”<\/em> \u2014 that feeling lingered in my chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking back, I think the person I was with was seeing things from a wide view, thinking of many people at once. A kindness that reaches broadly. And within that, the conversation naturally moved elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But that is exactly what made me realize something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kindness<\/em> and being truly present with someone<\/em> \u2014 they are similar, but perhaps a little different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A kindness that spreads widely, and a gaze turned toward one person in front of you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both matter. But in that moment, I was reaching for the latter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

And there was something else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until then, I had believed that being understood by someone<\/em> was what would fill this feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But perhaps that alone is not enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even when we speak, not everything will be received. Even in the closest relationships, we drift past each other, little by little.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So \u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To truly listen to my own story, myself. To gently gather up the feelings I couldn’t say in that moment, even if only afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That was one important way of being that I learned in my solitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
